Men’s Watches

Accessory necessity of the week: men’s watches. Incorporating classic menswear pieces into your wardrobe is almost always a fashion “do”, and men’s watches are no exception. Forgo dainty feminine styles, and instead opt for a chunky men’s watch in gold or tortoiseshell. To add a girlie, eclectic touch, layer with a multitude of fun bangles and woven bracelets. Now you have a sexy polished look for both work and play! Celebrity fans: Alexa Chung, Victoria Beckham. Below is a link to a great steal from Michael Kors:

The Jazzy Nail

Beauty obsession of the week: the jazzy nail. For those of you who do not know, the newly dubbed “jazzy nail” or “jazzy finger” is when the index finger on each of your hands is a different color from the rest of your manicure.  A favorite of celebrities, this look adds a dash of surprise to your beauty regimen, without being too over the top. To add a little bit of drama to the look, paint the index finger with a sparkly polish to truly contrast with the rest of your nails! Just be careful not to paint this finger a color too close to nude, otherwise it can look like you simply forgot to paint that nail. Celebrity fans: Ashley Benson, Vanessa Hudgens.

Lace Shorts

Fashion lust of the week: lace shorts. A perfect hybrid of flower child and girlie luxuriousness, nothing says ethereal romance like delicate crocheted lace. This summer, why not give your worn-in jean shorts a break, and try these on as a variation to the classic cutoff? If white lace is too pristine for you, fashion companies are now producing these shorts in a ranging color palette perfect for warm weather! When incorporating  these shorts into an outfit, play them up with a fun crop-top, or tone them down with a simple tucked in tank. Celebrity fans: Emma Watson, Kourtney Kardashian. If you want a pair of your own, check out these links below for a beautiful pair from Free People, or another, less expensive pair from Urban Outfitters:

Heart Shaped Sunglasses

My accessory necessity of the week: heart shaped sunglasses. They’re not just for Lolita anymore! Now back in style, the heart shaped sunglasses made popular during the 1960′s after the newly released film adaption of Vladimir Nabokov’s scandalous novel “Lolita”, have recently come back into circulation. Who can forget the infamous movie poster sporting the young tartlet, seductively licking a lollipop, with the iconic glasses propped on her nose? The newly updated look no longer sports the classic red plastic rims, but instead simpler, delicate wire frames, making it easier to combine with any outfit. For a girlie, flirty look, wear these glasses with a floral patterned dress, chunky wooden wedges, and loose waves. For a more outdoorsy-concert inspired look (a la coachella) wear with embellished jean shorts, and an ethereal lacy top. Remember, now that these glasses have been toned down a bit, don’t be afraid to up the ante on your accessories! Celebrity fans: Drew Barrymore, Nicole Richie. Below is a link to the same pair I recently bought from Urban Outfitters, and was thrilled with:

Fishtail Braids

My beauty obsession of the week: fishtail braids. A little bit bohemian flair, a little non-fuss high fashion, the fishtail braid has quickly become the easiest way to accessorize any outfit. Lately, this hairstyle has been seen everywhere from the runways in Milan, to the streets of Brooklyn, due to its effortlessly chic vibe. However, while this variation on the classic braid may look complex, it is actually quite simple, requiring only a few minor adjustments to create it. This look becomes particularly striking if you have multiple highlights and lowlights in your hair, as this will bring the real intricacy of this braid to life. Celebrity fans: Blake Lively, Diane Kruger, Nicole Richie. Below is a link to an easy step by step guide for creating the look yourself:

Leopard Loafers

Fashion lust of the week: leopard loafers. Meow, yes please! Recently there has been a new circulation of the classic smoking shoe in fun, fabulous, animal prints. In my opinion, leopard print has rarely been so classy and accessible to any style. Once I saw these shoes popping up in stores, I immediately went out and bought myself a pair, and was amazed with how easily these shoes can be integrated into any outfit in replacement of the basic black ballet flat. Some great ways to wear these shoes are with brightly colored sundresses (fuchsia or yellow!) along with lots of accenting bangles, or (for a more work appropriate look), with khaki shorts, pearls, and a navy blazer! Celebrity fans: Olivia Palermo, Nicky Hilton. Below is a link to a fun, easy pair by Steve Madden:

Envelope Clutches

My accessory necessity of the week: envelope clutches. The clutch has always been a favorite accessory of mine, it is completely polished while still one of a kind. Due to its larger size, the newly popular envelope clutch only enhances these attributes, as this variation on the standard evening clutch has the ability to transition into a daytime carryall as well. Now you are able to have your phone/camera/makeup etc. conveniently at your side, while still looking completely fashion forward. Many designs also offer an optional chain (just in case you are worried about accidentally misplacing it). I recently purchased a coral envelope clutch for myself (which I cannot wait to break in!), however you can’t go wrong with a mint or sea foam color either. In my mind a bright color is always the way to go, whether you are bringing your clutch out to brunch or out for the evening. Celebrity fans: Lauren Conrad, Olivia Palermo. Below are two great (and fairly inexpensive) options that will look great with everything!:

Pleated Skirts

My fashion lust of the week: chiffon pleated skirts. Wether maxi, or above the knee, pleated skirts have the ability to be effortlessly classy, while still remaining young and fresh. I recently purchased a blush colored skirt for myself from Jack by BB Dakota, and so far the amount of outfits I can create from this one item knows no bounds. For a more laid back bohemian vibe, combine a rust colored maxi skirt with a plain white t-shirt, dangly necklace and you’re ready to go. If you want a more polished look, combine a blush colored  knee length skirt with a striped shirt, navy blazer, black flats, and a chunky necklace. Both of these looks can transition from day to night by taking away and/or adding the correct accessories. Celebrity fans: Taylor Swift, Dianna Agron

Pastel Nailpolish

My beauty obsession of the week: pastel nails. In my mind pastels are the new “neutral” nail. Versatile and fun, pastel nail polish is the perfect accessory for any outfit (whether you are going to work, or going out). My personal favorite: lavender. While this color is classy and unique, it will never distract from your outfit, only enhance it. Some other great options? Mint, light blue, and sunny yellow. Don’t hesitate to try interesting combos (think leopard print and neon fabrics), pastels will never clash with another color! What could be more beautiful than that?
